The company plans to introduce the 2nd new Coastal Cat in the series, American Glory, in November 2023. Mrs. Carol Robertson, the wife of American Cruise Lines’ founder, the late Charles A. Robertson, served as godmother to American Eagle, which was named after the company’s first small ship launched in the 1970s. Mrs. Robertson christened the 100-passenger American Eagle with one of her handmade, ribbon-wrapped champagne bottles, while both cruise and christening ceremony guests looked on.

The Coastal Cat’s design offers the stability of river cruise ships with the adventure spirit of expedition vessels. The ship has only one handicapped stateroom (category AAM balcony cabin #210, located midship-starboard on Deck 2). The cabin is wheelchair-accessible (for disabled passengers), with two separate beds, a convenient near-lift location, and is ADA-compliant.

Chesapeake Shipbuilding delivered the boat to ACL on August 1, 2023, after successfully completing sea trials. Top-deck (deck 5) is a crew-only area with a SkyLight (glass-roof cover over the Atrium) and a Helideck.

First in a new series of Coastal Cats, the 109-guest vessel is sailing from Boston for an inaugural cruise to New England. The ship measures 241feet and carries 109 passengers at full occupancy with 50 crew. All ACL cruise ships are US-flagged and built by the company-owned Chesapeake Shipbuilding Yard in Salisbury MD (Maryland USA). The 2023-built MS American Eagle cruise ship is the first in a 12-ship series (Project Blue/aka Coastal Cat) of catamaran-design newbuilds in the ACL-American Cruise Lines fleet. From this (new for ACL) class are the same designed catamarans/sisterships launched two per year - in 2023 (Eagle/August, Glory/November), 2024 (Liberty/June, Legend/November), 2025 (Patriot/June, Pioneer/November), 2026, 2027, and 2028. A sophisticated aesthetic tailors an onboard atmosphere for American Eagle that evokes a sense of pride and appreciation for U.S. history.

Every trip includes an island lobster bake with time to explore or take a dip in the cool Maine waters while the picnic is readied on a deserted pristine beach. Launched in August 2023, the American Eagle is one of American Cruise Lines new Coastal Cats. These new “go anywhere” ships blend the best qualities of expedition adventure cruising with the refinement, luxury, stability, and land proximity of river cruising.

Cabins have sinks with hot and cold running water, reading lights, 120-volt outlets and comfortable bunks with linens and blankets. There are two bathrooms, or heads, below deck as well as a separate hot water shower. Passengers must be a minimum of 12 years old unless a cruise is chartered by a family or group. Cabins start at 230 square feet, and these are situated on the lower deck and have fixed windows. The largest accommodations are on the uppermost deck and comprise four 425-square-foot Sky Suites and a pair of Grand Suites that measure 550 square feet and feature a separate bedroom and living area and private dining area on the balcony. The American Eagle sets sail as a beacon of luxury and exploration, offering passengers an unparalleled journey through America’s maritime heritage.

The largest accommodations are located forward on Deck 4 - Sky Suite (425 ft2 / 40 m2) and Grand Suite (550 ft2 / 51 m2), with sizes including their terraces. These staterooms (2x Grand and 4x Sky) are two-room suites with separate living room and bedroom (both with direct terrace access, 2x TVs), dining area, marble bathroom (double-sink vanity). Achieving the perfect balance between stability and the flexibility to access remote areas is a challenge.

AAM rooms have large bathroom, wardrobe, ample drawer storage, under bed suitcase storage, 54” inch led TV, writing desk, safe, and complimentary WiFi. Perched high above the water, each 310-square-foot Vista Private Balcony stateroom offers all the comforts of a fine hotel with commanding views of the passing scenery. Large floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead to a comfortable balcony with a table and chairs. Vista rooms have a large bathroom, wardrobe, ample drawer storage, under bed suitcase storage, 54” inch led TV, writing desk, safe, and complimentary WiFi. The AAA staterooms are the largest standard rooms on any riverboat with 310 square feet of interior space. Each main deck room features large picture windows with water views and a built-in reading nook.
